If there’s one thing we care about at The Head & The Hand, it’s process. And of all of the things a good writing process is dependent on, the most important to us is the writer’s workspace. We wonder how many possibly great writers have suffered from the distraction of a roommate who keeps popping in to update on the progress of the litter of feral kittens he just rescued from the alley. Or from the wandering professional who clears off two tables at the coffee shop, sets up her workstation, and holds three consecutive skype meetings.
That is why we built The Head & The Hand Press Workshop. Our workshop serves as both our publishing headquarters and the creative center of our writers’ community. Along with our staff work area, we have dedicated a portion of our workshop to private writing space. Use the space to start the novel you have always wanted to write, to get quality article or class writing done or to get advice from our editorial staff. Bring any type of writing you have, take a seat, and get to work in a creative co-writing environment.

Workshop Group Amenities and Booking Rates
If a group of owls is a parliament and a bunch of jellyfish form a smack, what is the name for a group of writers who meet in defiance of the act’s inherently solitary nature? Sadly, no official collective noun exists (prove us wrong, Internet!), but maybe it will after you and your cohorts gather in The Head & The Hand’s workshop space for your next meeting. Bring booze, bring food, drink our complimentary coffee, tea, and water, let the pleasant hue of our robin’s egg blue walls fuel your next great epiphany. Our comfy chairs and handmade desks await. We hope to welcome your book club/screenplay sextet/playwriting passel soon.
To rent our entire workshop out for an evening, it will cost $5/person for each of your members. You can have the room beginning at 7:30 PM and stay until you wish to leave. An H&H staff person will be there to greet you, but it will be your responsibility to lock up, and you will be liable for any missing or damaged property. Interested? email firstname.lastname@example.org to set up your group appointment.
The building we are located in is currently under renovation, so ultimately our address will be 2011 Frankford Avenue. However, for the time being, the better entrance to access the workshop is 2012 Sepviva Street (one block east of Frankford Ave.) Just look for the ampersand on the door.
And if you have trouble, please call (267) 702-6744.
Our Workshop Membership includes:
-A hand-made private writing desk
-The option of advice, a brain to pick, or an extra set of eyes from our editorial team
-Coffee and tea
-A co-writing community of a room full of writers doing the same thing as you
-Opportunities to publish on our Workshop Blog and other publications
Plus, we invite you to Workshop Wednesday every second Wednesday of the month. After 8 pm, enjoy informal shop talk with the rest of the writers in the room, drinks, and delicious cupcakes from our marketing team.
