Holiday Karaoke Fundraiser

  • The Center for Art in Wood 141 N. 3rd Street Philadelphia, PA 19106 USA (map)

Join The Head & The Hand as we remix this year’s fall fundraiser with a Holiday Karaoke Party theme. Meet our staff and many of the talented writers The Head & The Hand has had the pleasure of publishing over the years. Hear readings from our Shockwire Chapbook Series authors Patrick McNeil and Carol McCullough as they show off their singing skills and get the party started for anyone who wants to get up and sing a song. We're big power ballad fans over here, just FYI. Buy tickets here!

Our longtime collaborator chef and owner of the Soup Kitchen Café in Kensington, Ben Bigler, will provide light fare, and libations will be curated by The Head & The Hand staff.

Tickets are $25 for general admission, $50 for general admission plus an H&H gift bundle of four books of yore, and $100 for all of that PLUS a membership to The Center for Art in Wood. Expect a fun raffle, and, for a $500 donation, H&H Founder Nic Esposito will sing any karaoke song of the generous donor’s choice. A membership to the Center for Art in Wood comes with that level of generosity as well.

All proceeds will fund H&H’s diverse array of projects, such as these 2018 highlights:
--In collaboration with the Free Library, publishing 2018 Philadelphia Youth Poet Laureate Husnaa Hashim’s debut chapbook collection, Honey Sequence
--Publishing the plantable 50 th anniversary reinterpretation of Richard Brautigan’s revolutionary poetry collection, Please Plant This Book, and raising close to $20,000 in proceeds to benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention
--Making a statement on the current collision of politics and culture with our Shockwire Chapbook Series, which we continue to sell from our signature Chapbook Vending Machine
--Establishing a partnership with Drexel University’s Writers Room and installing our beloved Chapbook Vending Machine on campus to kick off another great year of publishing adventures in 2019
