• Bring in new or gently used books from your home library. 

• Upon donation, an H&H staffer will fill out a form with your contact information. We will use this to create a customer account for you in our point-of-sales system and connect your donation to your profile. This is how you will accumulate (and redeem) credits.

• Our team will review and decide which book(s)* will be accepted into the bank.

• In the earlier iteration of our Book Bank, you only earned credits for every four books in good or gently used condition; no credit was earned for visibly worn books. You now earn a dollar amount of store credits for every book we accept! 

• You can then apply your accrued credit towards up to 50% of the price of used book(s) you’d like to buy. Read more about our credit system below. 

*Note: We will evaluate on a book-by-book basis, and reserve the right to refuse any donation. We rarely accept mass market fiction and mass market nonfiction titles. We do not accept textbooks, advanced readers copies/galleys, or Book of the Month titles. Anything we do not accept into the Book Bank, we donate to Circle Thrift.

You are welcome to make a donation any time during our open hours. Please note we do not evaluate books on the spot; we’ll make a record of your donation in a Google form and process the donations as we are able.

• Any credits you accrued from donating to Book Bank before the transition to our new system have been converted into a dollar amount of store credit and are saved on your customer profile in our point-of-sales system.

• We'll price accepted books based on their condition. Their resale value helps determine the amount of store credit you'll accrue in your account.

• Your Book Bank credits will be applied automatically at checkout for up to 50% of the total cost of your used book(s) purchase.

The cap on credit used during a single transaction helps us make Book Bank – and our business! – more financially sustainable.

Bring any used book(s) you want to purchase to the counter say you would like to use your store credit. Your accrued credit will be applied automatically to your purchase, covering up to 50% of each used book. 

Used and discounted books in our store have brightly colored stickers on their spines, and prices are on the barcode stickers on the back. 

To check your account’s credit balance, ask in-person at the counter or call us (267-465-1784). 

Please note that credits will only update in our system once we have processed your donations. We are a small nonprofit and it takes us time to evaluate donations. Please be patient and provide ample time before inquiring.
