Corn Belt Almanac: A Night of Words and Food

  • Free Library of Philadelphia 1901 Vine Street Philadelphia, PA, 19103 United States (map)

Please join The Head & The Hand Press and the Free Library of Philadelphia's Culinary Literacy Center for a night of stories, recipes, cooking, and readings from Corn Belt Almanac. Corn Belt Almanac is a collection of stories, essays, triumphs, and reflections done in the style of an old time almanac about our largest cultural ingredient: FOOD

Featured authors will be contributors Sarah Grey, author of the essay "Friday Night Meatballs," and Jon McGoran, author of the essay "Long Range Meal Planning," who will be reading and cooking from their contributions to the Almanac

Food and literature are the two great pleasures in life and we are pleased to be able to offer both at this special event.

This event is 21+. Tickets are $15 and include a generous tasting and a Yards beer pairing. Copies of Corn Belt Almanac can be purchased at the program.

Special thanks to Yards Brewing Company for sponsoring this event.

Sarah Grey is a freelance writer and editor at Grey Editing LLC in Fishtown, Philadelphia, and the force behind Friday Night Meatballs. Her writing can be found at sarahgreywrites.com.

Jon McGoran is the author of six novels, including the ecological thrillers Drift, Deadout, and their forthcoming sequel, Dust Up. He has been writing about food and sustainability for over 20 years as communications director at Weaver's Way Co-op and Grid Magazine.
