The chapbook vending machine has a new home at the Soup Kitchen Cafe! Come celebrate the release of the 2016 Breadbox Chapbook Series with a night of readings from chapbook authors Elizabeth Scanlon, Tim Fitts, and Michaela Prell. Spend your St. Patrick's day with some hot soup, a cold cocktail, and stellar literary talent. 

The Soup Kitchen Cafe is located on the corner of Frankford and Susquehanna in Fishtown. 

Elizabeth Scanlon

Elizabeth Scanlon is the Editor of The American Poetry Review. She is the author of Odd Regard (Ixnay Press, 2013), and her poems have appeared in many magazines, including The Boston Review, Ploughshares, and Crazyhorse.

Tim Fitts

Tim Fitts lives in Philadelphia with his wife and two children. His short stories have appeared in over twenty literary journals, such as The Gettysburg Review, Granta (online), The Baltimore Review, upstreet, and Shenandoah, among others. His photography work is shown at the Thomas Deans Gallery in Atlanta, and his photographs have been featured as covered art for journals such as the New England Review and the American Literary Review.

Michaela Prell

Michaela Prell is currently a senior at Science Leadership Academy. Next year she will be attending Sarah Lawrence College. In her free time she is a long distance runner (she has completed three marathons) as well as an elephant and marine life enthusiast. 

Reading Michaela's story will be her friend Nigel Law. Nigel is a senior at Germantown Friends School. Next year, however, he will be taking a gap year to construct a Rube-Goldberg machine. His interests include creative writing and creative reading.
