Think of this group as a writing laboratory: a place to perform wild experiments and nerdily anatomize the results. With the help of Mary Ruefle, Jerome Stern, and James Wood, we will peel back our writing’s protective layers to see the ticking, squirming mechanisms inside. For our prompts we will pilfer from visual dictionaries, the great Oulipians, and your latest IKEA instruction booklet to reintroduce the playful, the accidental, the weird into our work. Whether you’re locked in a staring contest with a blank page, blowing up Twitter with your post-punk haikus, or polishing off the third book of your latest trilogy, come share your zeal for the written word. All genres, all aesthetics, all 100% organic and local.
