Write Nite: The Afterlife

  • The Art Dept. 1638 East Berks Street Philadelphia, PA, 19125 United States (map)

Write Nite: The Afterlife is an experimental workshop focused on world building. We'll be using the book Sum: Forty Tales from the Afterlives by David Eagleman to explore alternative realities, build 3 dimensional settings, and discuss how characters are effected by the conditions set forth by their environments. And we'll write, a lot. :)

$8-10 sliding scale; $5 for H&H workshop members. This workshop will be led by Maryan Nagy Captan and hosted by The Head & The Hand.

MARYAN NAGY CAPTAN is an Egyptian-American poet and performer living in Philadelphia, where she serves as Art Director at Apiary Magazine and teaches experimental and experiential writing classes at The Head & The Hand Press. Most recently, Maryan has served as Lead Teaching Artist for the Hoye Wayelo Summer Program in Pine Ridge, South Dakota, as well as Poet-in-Residence at both the Youth Culture Library in Hanoi, Vietnam and Paul Smith’s College of the Adirondacks. Her first collection, copy/body, was published by Empty Set Press in June 2017. Her poetry can be found in Mad House, AJAR, Boneless Skinless, APIARY Magazine and CRED Magazine.
