Write Nite: Ekphrasis

  • Art Dept. Collective 1638 East Berks Street Philadelphia, PA, 19125 United States (map)

Write Nite: Ekphrasis is an experimental workshop focused exploring visual art through poetry and prose. We'll be using the book "On Ugliness" and "The History of Beauty" by Umberto Eco as visual art references for this unique workshop. We encourage those attending to bring their favorite art books to share!

An ekphrastic poem is a vivid description of a work of art. Through the imaginative act of narrating and reflecting on the “action” of a painting or sculpture, the poet may amplify and expand its meaning.

Write Nite is designed for all levels and ages! The workshops are experimental in nature so there is no need to have experience, just a sense of curiosity and an interest in looking your creative practice through a new lens.

Write Nite is about reframing the way we come into ideas and shaking up our creative process.

$8-10 sliding scale. This workshop will be led by Maryan Nagy Captan and hosted by The Head & The Hand.
