The Life of a Short Story w/ Tim Fitts

  • 2012 Sepviva St Philadelphia, PA, 19125 United States (map)

In this workshop, we will be looking at the organic nature of the short story, and most importantly, voice.  We will be looking at blurring the lines between 1st and 3rd person and the relationship between point of view and plot.  We will also be considering the lifecycle of the story – when stories need to begin making their rounds for publication submission, and when they need to ripen.  Please feel free to bring along examples for consideration.

Tim Fitts lives and works in Philadelphia with his wife and two children.  His stories have appeared in journals such as The Gettysburg Review, Granta (online), Shenandoah, CutBank, Day One, The Xavier Review, among others.  His novel, The Soju Club will be published this fall as a Korean translation by The Open Books, in Seoul.
